ALA Privacy Initiative -- The Fight for Personal Data

A recent Ars Technica article highlighted an new push from the American Library Association to educate and mobilize the general public in support of privacy rights, seeking to push back against the erosion of civil liberties that has been so prevalent in the last decade. The ALA has produced a flyer in .pdf format and set up an informative website to make their agenda clear:

There's even a bit of Sift fodder here for members with enough star power to post blip.tv vids. I think they'd make good additions to the Sift; unfortunately my own star doesn't shine quite bright enough to illuminate blip.tv. The worm is not part of Tequila.

This is a common misnomer, do to the fact that Mezcal is native to Mexico and only the best is brewed in the state Mexican of Oaxaca.

They add scorpions to the bottle along with worms. There are laws against putting bugs and decorations inside Tequila.

Agave:This is the species plant that Mezcal, Pulque, and tequila are made of.

Tequila: is made from blue agave, and in the United States national tequila day is on July 24.

Aquardiente:Burning Water, a name for all of the drinks that burn.

Pulque: A drink commonly reffered to as a beer, but it is a lesser relative of Mezcal

Three new maps that prove to be quite a challenge. Lots of fun, and whats awesome is that they work even if you only have Portal! (which is great for me because I have a cracked version;) )Check em out!

Our fellow sifter / working ant is still going strong..35000 x (average video lenght?) 4 minutes = 140000 minutes, 2333 hours and twenty minutes of video...wow! Impressive..

He has probably seen the most videos here..but maybe there are lurkers or non-voting and/or infrequently voting sifters who have seen more..

Just thought I'd share a site I just found out about (its admin is a lurker here) because it has a wealth of fascinating techie videos that have surprisingly not seen the light of Sift. (I just posted three of them. Make that four. [I'd continue, but my queue's full. ])

It's a blog called HighT3ch.com. I didn't want to tell anyone because there's so much great content to scavenge on, but there's just too much for one man.

(I get so frustrated when I have so many choices of great stuff but there are just so many options I don't know where to begin. Sort of like eating at a buffet.)

Schmawy's crossword puzzle has been modified for the digital age in the first ever VideoSift Crossword Puzzle! No longer will we need to print them out on paper! Not when we're experiencing the excitement of web 1.0!

This is a work-in-progress, so the design is obviously thrown together. The current game holds a maximum 23x23 gridded puzzle. If the requests for these pick up, maybe I'll polish it up a bit. Who knows, maybe in the future we'll have our own VideoSift games page. That's sure to run off a couple more Sifters!
